The documentary "Losing Ground: The Cliff Effect" will have its encore showing on PBS stations across Colorado on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The television show explains how many low-income working families in Colorado, just when they are nearing stability and self-sufficiency, can lose benefits such as child-care assistance and be knocked backward.
The Women's Foundation of Colorado teamed up with Rocky Mountain PBS and its I-News Network to produce the documentary. Rich Jones, the Bell's director of policy and research, appears in the program.
Finding effective policy tools for addressing the cliff effect has long been a focus of the Bell's research, going back to our 2006 Blueprint for Opportunity. We believe that taking on this issue is a crucial step toward making Colorado a state of opportunity for all. During the 2012, legislative session, we supported legislation to mitigate the cliff effect. We are finalizing a policy brief on the issue.
